How to cancel

Message "cancel" to the Botsmith bot. It takes one confirmation. There is no retention call, no form, and no notice period.

Cancelling during the trial. The 14-day trial runs on the full Growth feature set and takes a payment mandate at signup, but nothing is charged until it ends. Cancel any time before then and you are never billed. If you do nothing, the account converts to Starter — the smallest paid plan, not the one you trialled — and the first charge is taken on that day.

What happens next

  1. Your plan keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not cut you off early.
  2. At the end of that period the subscription ends and your bots stop answering. Every Botsmith plan is paid, so there is nothing to fall back to.
  3. For 7 days after that, everything is paused rather than deleted, so you can change your mind without losing work.
  4. After the grace period your bot pauses: it stops answering customers, and nothing is deleted. Your catalogue, contacts, orders and bot configuration stay exactly as they are. Pay and it resumes as it was. We keep the data for the retention period set out in the privacy policy, and you can ask us to delete it at any point.
Cancelling a subscription does not delete your data. If you want it gone, ask separately on the data deletion page.

If the account stays lapsed

A paused account does not sit untouched forever. Storage costs money and holding your customers’ personal data longer than we need to is the opposite of what a privacy policy should promise, so a lapsed account is wound down on a published schedule. Every step is measured from the day the bot paused, and we warn you before each deletion with a link to download your data.

What happens to a lapsed account
When What happens
Day 0 Your bot pauses. Nothing is deleted. Paying reactivates it immediately, exactly as it was.
Day 76 We message you: your uploaded media will be deleted in 14 days, with a link to download everything.
Day 90 We delete uploaded media — photos, PDFs and generated reports — and revoke our access to your WhatsApp Business Account. Your bot, contacts, orders and bookings are kept. Your WhatsApp Business Account remains yours; reconnecting later means going through the connection step once more.
Day 335 and day 358 Two more warnings, each with a download link.
Day 365 We delete the rest of your personal data: your bot configuration, contacts, staff numbers, conversation history, orders and bookings. This cannot be undone.

After that we keep only invoices and payment records, for the period Indian company and GST law requires. Those are financial records we are legally obliged to retain — they are not personal data we decided to keep anyway, and they are not used for anything else.

What this means if you come back. Reactivating within 90 days gives you everything, exactly as you left it. Between 90 and 365 days you get your bot, contacts, orders and bookings back, but the uploaded photos and PDFs are gone and you will reconnect your WhatsApp number once more. After 365 days there is nothing to come back to — your bot, your contacts and your order and booking history have been deleted, and starting again means starting from scratch. We will tell you exactly what is missing when you reactivate rather than letting you discover it.

This is why the warnings carry a download link. If you think you might return, take the export — it is the only copy that survives, and we cannot recover what the schedule has deleted. You can also ask us to delete everything sooner, at any point, on the data deletion page.

Your WhatsApp number

Your WhatsApp Business Account is yours and stays yours. Cancelling Botsmith does not affect it. You can disconnect us and connect a different provider, or run it yourself, without our permission and without asking us.

On request we will remove our app’s access to your account so nothing is left behind.

Taking your data with you

Ask for an export before you cancel and we will send your bot configuration, catalogue, contacts, orders and bookings as JSON and CSV. Email support@botsmith.in.
